Welcome to Wonderland

Quilting in Wonderland  is the theme of the annual Estes Valley Quilt Guild retreat which began today. This event, held at the YMCA of the Rockies, always gets rave reviews from its participants. There will be workshops, games, food, and lots and lots of sewing throughout the week-end - just what quilters love. It's also an opportunity to get to know other quilt guild members and see their creations.

I'll be posting more photos in the coming days. It looks like fun, doesn't it?

Patty Hawkins Delights Guild Members

In spite of the wild and blustery night, many guild members and a few guests braved the elements to see and hear Patty Hawkins present her program, "My Art Odyssey, Taking Twists and Turns." We weren't disappointed! She brought a few of her quilts to show and she presented a slide show (with photos of many more quilts) which highlighted her evolution as a textile artist. She talked about her philosophy of art, her family, her triumphs and missteps along the way, and gave us practical advice and encouragement to find our own styles. It was an inspirational program.

Ricky Tims Super Quilt Seminar

Ricky Tims

The Ricky Tims Super Quilt Seminar, is a great opportunity for guild members to experience Ricky Tims’ exciting and educational event for quilters.  On October 9-11, 2014, Ricky, along with Alex Anderson will be at The Ranch Complex, where he’ll be conducting his Ricky Tims Super Quilt Seminar sponsored in part, by Bernina of America.  Imagine 3 hours on Thursday evening plus all day Friday and Saturday with instruction from two of the most sought-after international quilt instructors.  Everyone who registers for this event attends all of the sessions and no one will miss out on their favorite instructor or topic. Go to http://www.rickytims.com/seminars to get more information. The web link will outline the seminar and includes quotes from past participants and you can view a brief 4-minute video to actually see what exactly this Ricky Tims Super Quilt Seminar is all about.  This format has received nothing but praise. The only disappointment is from those who hear about it after the fact and then it's too late. We're asking your guild to help spread the word - and the enthusiasm.
In addition, your members can volunteer to work at the seminar and receive a $60 gift certificate to the Ricky Tims Seminar Store. Volunteers may request information at rtqs@rickytims.com.
The seminar is so diverse that traditional quilters, contemporary quilters, as well as beginning and experienced quilters will find this seminar information to be outstanding and beneficial.  Of course, Alex is a household name thanks to Simply Quilts and her numerous books.
