Map of Detour to Good Samaritan

Below is a map of the detour route I take to Good Samaritan (follow the red line from Dry Gulch). It was valid on July 28 and I don't know if it will be changed before our August meeting. I'll post updates if necessary.

Program Change for July 13

Kara Schorstein Peterson

We are sorry that our original speaker  Kelly Gallager-Abbott has had to reschedule her presentation to a future date but we are pleased that Kara Schorstein Peterson, former Estes Park resident, will be our new speaker. In her presentation, Who Knew”, Kara will share her journey of exploration with fiber - quilting, pattern making, upholstery, art quilting/mixed media pieces. She has learned many tricks along the way that she will share in her talk and demonstration. Her presentation will include color, different techniques, what works/what doesn’t work, rules to be broken or not, unusual materials, use of appliqué and some wonderful surprises she has discovered. Kara will also discuss her pattern “Into the Woods” that the guild is adapting and making as a guild project for the Fairgrounds Event Center, Silo Room.  Please join us for this inspiring evening with Kara.

Into the Woods
Kara took an interest in the “quilt revival” that began in the 70’s, first exploring traditional patchwork quilting patterns and then moving on to creating her own designs for bed quilts, patchwork clothing, and small quilts intended as visual art. Since 1990 she has published patterns under the name Seams & Dreams, selling primarily wholesale to independent retailers. Over the past twenty years she has also created textile/fiber art pieces and  has learned basic upholstery skills. She produces fiber art and does custom upholstery work under the name Green Chair Studios (www.greenchairstudios.biz). She is currently represented by Aspen & Evergreen Gallery in Estes Park. Kara lives and works in Highlands Ranch, CO.

Guest are encouraged to attend for a nominal fee of $10.
Join us a Good Sam’s, 1901 Ptarmigan Trail, Wednesday, July 13 at 6:30 pm.
The detour may still be in place! But they are close to finishing the road.
